Sun-kissed Salsa is a non-profit organisation which hosts public open air Afro-Latin dance events eery other Sunday during the summer months. Music is not limited to Salsa and includes other Afro-Latin genres.

The popular Sea Point Swimming Pool complex consists of an Olympic-sized pool, a springboard diving pool and two splash pools for children. For decades Capetonians have headed here to while away a hot summer’s day with the family, or to start off the morning with a few laps, accompanied only by the sound of gulls.

Dan Shout is perhaps best known as the saxophonist for the late South African icon Johnny Clegg. He also occasionally graces the Sea Point promenade where he performs either solo or with members of his band. If you cannot catch him at Sea Point, you may be able to see him perform at Fat Harry’s Jazz Jam, on Mondays.
Local street art project team, Free the Walls, were challenged by Plascon to paint some old hoarding boards overlooking the canal in Battery Park. “The middle section is framed so people can pose below the ‘rising sun’, and to the left and right are waves symbolising the V&A’s surrounding oceans. Colour choices were made to depict day and night as well as African warmth and ocean blues.” Primary artist on the mural: Sarah Kate Meyer
