Scene It supports and respects a person’s right to privacy and to the careful management of any personal information that Scene It is required to collect in order to provide products and services.

The hosting, analytics, email sending and other technical provisions for our website and mobile app may be hosted on servers outside of South Africa or outside of the European Union.

However, Scene It shall ensure that its host providers are subject to laws, or policies, which uphold principles for the reasonable processing of information substantially similar to the data protection laws applicable to the European Union and/or in South Africa to ensure adequate protection of any such data.

We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials and private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We will disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to respond to claims and legal process, to protect our property and rights or the property and rights of a third party, to protect the safety of the public or any person, or to prevent or stop activity we consider to be illegal or unethical.

We use analytics tools provided by service partners such as Google Analytics to collect information about how users interact with our website, including what pages you visit, what site you visited prior to visiting our website, how much time you spend on each page, what operating system and web browser you use and network and IP information. 1. As a Visitor

Signing Up to Our Mailing List

On this site, we display various forms that allow you to sign up to our mailing list. When you sign up through one of our forms, we’ll commonly ask you for the following data:

Any payments made on our website are processed by our partner payment gateways. Your credit card details are encrypted and stored with the payment gateway and so these details are not visible or available to Scene It or the staff of Scene It. If you have a query please contact the payment gateway directly.

Please note that this data is captured when you submit an order on our checkout page regardless of whether you complete the purchase of the product through our payment processor.

This data is required for the following reasons:

Compliance – we have a duty to understand what country you are resident of so that we can charge the correct VAT amount. We must also keep a record of this data for tax audit purposes.
Integration with our payment processor – we collect address personal data such as your name, email and address to integrate with our payment processor (the service we use to collect payments).
Product delivery – In order to give you access to the products that you purchase and to our support team, we need to create an account using your name and email address.

Product or Services Review

When you provide a rating or review of a product or post, you consent to us using that rating or review as we deem fit, including without limitation on our website, in newsletters or other marketing material. Please note that your name may appear next to that rating or review. If you do not agree to this, please do not put any ratings or reviews on the website. We will not display any of your contact details with a rating or review.

We strive to provide you with choices around marketing and advertising. You will receive marketing communications from us if you are an existing user of ours and you have not opted-out of receiving that marketing.

While we may use your personal data within our company group, we will get your express opt-in consent before we share your personal data with any third party.

You can ask us or authorised third parties to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by contacting us or the relevant third party at any time and requesting us to cease or change your marketing preferences.

Where you opt-out of receiving these marketing messages, this opt-out will not apply to other personal data of yours which we process for another lawful basis.

International Transfers

We may share your personal information within our company group and with affiliates, and this may involve transferring and processing your data outside of South Africa.

Whenever we may transfer your personal information out of South Africa, we ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it by ensuring that we have a contract in place between the parties with clauses speaking specifically to data protection and the duties of each party related thereto which gives personal information the same protection it has in South Africa.
